This shows how to use heat shrink tubing to shape the knot and keep it from bridging the inner ring and outer rings of the kendama bearing.  It also helps keep the knot from coming undone which seems to happen more frequently when using bearings.  On this site you can pick up a Lightning Bead (kendama bearing) to try out for yourself.
